NAFDAC Cracks Down On Kuskura, Illegal Herbal Aphrodisiacs

The National Agency For Food And Drug Administration And Control (NAFDAC) has commenced a nation wide crackdown of all illegal manufacturers and distributors of an intoxicant called Kuskura, herbal aphrodisiacs, alcoholic bitters and other preparations.

Mojisola Adeyeye, made the disclosure

yesterday while briefing newsmen in Abuja.

She said this is geared towards bringing

perpetrators to book and minimize the

usage of the substance.

The move by NAFDAC is coming on the heels

of a recent report by daily Trust Saturday

On the high rise in the usage of Kuskura in

Kaduna State.

The NAFDAC boss said finding from various

operations carried out revealed a dangerous

Trent in the use of such substance laced

with high concentration of tobacco and

sometimes cannabis by the populace cutting

across gender and age groups, particularly

artisans and okada riders, among others.

Prof. Adeyeye said recently, the Agency

received series of report on the use of a

herbal preparations popularly known as

'kuskura' particularly in the South West and

northern axis of the country.
